Can I assume foreign imports are what they claim to be? Is my stock labeled correctly?
Because of the rising prices of nickel, 300 series stainless is sometimes replaced by 200 series stainless. Ensure your stock is what it should. 200 stainless contains less nickel and a higher manganese content than 300 series. The 1399 kit can satisfy your quality specifications.
How the 1399 works.
Color spot tests isolate and identify the single distinguishing element that separates the alloy you want from the one you don't. Nickel and manganese are all easily detectable with the 1399. It's simple. First check the chart of alloy compositions. Then consult the instruction manual for ElectroSpot procedure. Finally look for a color test spot revealing the element. You've answered your alloy concerns with confidence.
A drop of a Koslow testing solution is added to a test paper which is then placed on the stainless and current is passed to sample a minute amount of the alloy. The current-flow light assures you that the electrical circuit is complete. In the next step the Koslow developer solution is added to the same paper. The color due to a specific element develops in seconds.
The kit includes a standard sample of stainless steel 201 and 304, test solutions, special papers as well as the electros spot III current source. The kit is neatly packaged in a durable carrying case. Call us. Our sales technicians can help you choose the best kit for your needs.
The 1399 is a mid range kit which tests for 2 elements. For a broader range of testing see our Inspectors Kit # 1499
